Our Mission
PS 110 is committed to providing equitable, accessible, and engaging learning experiences through a culturally responsive and data-driven approach to meet the needs of our diverse community of learners. Through collective learning that includes school leaders, families, teachers, students, and community members, and strategic planning, we will build the capacity of our community, at all levels, to be anti-racist and disruptors of inequities. We value joy, equity, collaboration, and innovation and strive to live these values across all settings. As a result, our students will be self-motivated, self-aware, curious individuals who can actively collaborate and demonstrate perseverance, agency, and flexible thinking as lifelong learners and change-makers.
Our Library
The state-of-the-art Library at PS 110, funded by a generous Robin Hood Foundation Grant, is one of the standout features of our school. Established in 2008, the library is brimming with brand new books and computers, providing a meticulously designed space that fosters an ideal atmosphere for students to engage with reading. Every week, each class eagerly visits the library to borrow books, listen to readings, and take part in interactive discussions. Additionally, the library serves as a gathering spot for parent groups, hosts evening PTA seminars, and accommodates a media center for teachers and staff.
Our Computer Lab
At PS110, we believe computer technology is a useful tool to improve teaching and learning. Our students use various technologies to access, analyze, interpret, synthesize, apply, communicate, and present information. They learn and practice skills such as typing, desktop publishing, creating multimedia projects, digital photography and videography, painting and illustrating, web authoring, creating spreadsheets and databases, graphing and charting, graphic design, internet research, and basic programming.
Thanks to the RESO A grant, each classroom now has a media cart that includes an Elmo document camera, an LCD projector, a laptop, and a built-in stereo sound system. It is a valuable tool for teachers to use in the classroom for teaching, presentations, demos, and brainstorming.
We have a dedicated instructional computer lab of 30 Apple workstations networked through an Apple X-server, and 5 mobile carts with WiFi enabled iBooks (80 laptops) for classroom use. Every classroom is wired for internet connection has two or three computers.
Our Gym
Climb, crawl, jump, and duck! The Railyard system is a modular obstacle course that helps us meet our school-wide fitness goals while providing an active play area for students when inclement weather forces recess inside. The Railyard is designed to develop students’ strength, balance, coordination, agility, flexibility, and endurance. Its lightweight, durable, portable, and modifiable design makes it a user-friendly product that is readily incorporated into structured PE classes.
Despite being used by over 900 schools nationwide, PS110 takes pride in being the first school in New York City to integrate the Railyard into its PE curriculum.
Our Auditorium
Our Auditorium is a versatile space that extends learning beyond the confines of the classroom. It hosts art enrichment programs, student performances, PTA meetings, and various other school events, serving as a hub for creativity and community engagement.
Our History
PS 110 stands as one of the oldest public schools in the Lower East Side, boasting a rich history intertwined with the vibrant community it serves. The unique learning environment it provides is a special privilege for our students each day.
We invite you to enjoy the video on this page to hear from some of our esteemed alumni! It's a testament to our school's legacy that many of our current students are second or even third generation attendees of PS 110, highlighting the strong ties and enduring impact of our school within the community.
